Hannah Nesbitt picked up an impressive Silver Medal at the British Championships, this along with her bronze medal at the U23 British Championships earlier in the month saw her selected for Great Britain Team competing at the U23 European Championships.
Matt Henderson and Sophie Saudo each took the gold medal at the Invicta Open and not to be out done Pete Eames won the Best Veteran Trophy.
There was an excellent 1st and 2nd place for Owen Jordan and George Morris at the 12th Bill Hoskyns Open. The boys were then joined by Matt Henderson for the Team Competition where they beat the defencing Champions Brixton to take team Gold. Nick Grimshaw won the Young Hoskyns, an U13 competition run alongside the main event while Hannah Nesbit won a Bronze medal in the Wemen’s Event and Sophie Saudo made the top 8 while Big Felix Swinbank took 10th place in the Men’s Event to complete an excellent weekend for Leon Paul Epee.
The Luton Open saw Sophie Saudo pick up her second Open title of the year while Elliott Grover won the Men’s event with David Roig Carles taking the silver. Other results include Felix Swinbank 9th, Tom Rees 13th and George Watkins 18th.
Pete Eames finished 4th in the British Veterans Age Group Championships and is first reserve for the Great Britain Team. Evan Todd finished 11th before heading out to America to take part in the American Nationals.
Finally, the invitational Epee Club was held at the Leon Paul Centre with George Morris, Owen Jordan, Matt Henderson & Justine Garoudet taking part. A top 8 finish for Owen and silver medal for Matt saw both fencers leave with a lovely brush steel wine cooler after a good days fencing.
