Mad March

The Competitions have been coming thick and fast this month and the medals have not been in short supply either.  The story starts at a competition in Dublin where Charlotte Levin was joined on the podium by Lucy Johnson.  Dom Paul then racked up a L64 finish at the European Cadet Championships in Plovdiv before Aml & Owen followed him for the European Junior Championships.  In a cruel twist of fate the Leon Paul Epee team mates met in the L64 where Aml came out on top finishing round further than Owen in the L32.  The pair teamed up for the team event where GB finished a creditable 11th.

Hugh Kernohan got in on the act winning Leon Paul Epee’s first medal north of the boarder with a bronze at the Edinburgh Open.  Meanwhile Sophie was over in France at the Challenge International  Asptt Paris and came second out of 59 fencer.  A little closer to home the Leon Paul Novice Open saw Lewi Tabone win himself a silver medal.  Lewis started fencing at Leon Paul less than 6 months ago so congratulations to him.  Tom Storey was 5th in the same competition.

Young Florin Mirica picked up 2 golds in 2 LPJS events. One with Coach Keni in Cardiff & the other in London with Owen Jordan providing coaching support.  Keni was next scene at the Invicta Open where the women impressed taking the Gold, Silver & Bronze medals in the Women’s Epee.  Well done to Jess Gundry, Sophie St Claire Jones & Sophie Saudo on a clean sweep.

Next up is a trip to Birmingham on Easter Sunday where the Leon Paul Fencers will be climbing aboard the team bus for a road trip and hopefully more success.
